This Is Now the Most-Requested Game for Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is now the game most requested to receive backwards compatibility support on Xbox One. The game has overtaken Red Dead Redemption, which had held the top spot for several weeks.

Following Microsoft’s E3 announcement of backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games on Xbox One, the company posted a poll on its website asking users to vote for which 360 games they want to receive support on the new console. Rockstar’s 2010 game Red Dead Redemption quickly rose to the top of the charts, but now Black Ops II has edged it out.

The Call of Duty series is highly requested; there are six Call of Duty games in the top 12. A list of the top 15 most-requested games at the time of this writing is below:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  2. Red Dead Redemption
  3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  5. Halo: Reach
  6. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  7. Gears of War 3
  8. Fallout 3
  9. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  11. Mass Effect 3
  12. Call of Duty: World at War
  13. BioShock Infinite
  14. Fallout: New Vegas
  15. Left 4 Dead 2

Black Ops II was originally at the top of the list for a short time after the poll went live, but was soon beaten by Red Dead Redemption.

The votes are a way for Microsoft to gauge interest in which games to make backwards compatible, but the company cautions that not all of these games will receive support. Currently, only a handful of games are supported, but Microsoft is planning to make more backwards compatible over the coming months.

Recently, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that backwards compatibility helps sell Xbox One systems. Microsoft has also promised to make “hundreds” of 360 games playable on Xbox One by the end of this year.
