Gears of War Creator’s LawBreakers Could Come to PS4/Xbox One

LawBreakers, the next game from Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, is currently confirmed only for PC. But the gravity-based shooter could come to consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime down the road, Bleszinski said recently during an interview at PAX Prime.

Speaking to GameSpot, Bleszinski stressed that LawBreakers will launch for PC first. If it does come to consoles, developer Boss Key will need to find another studio to do the port because the studio is too small to do it internally.

“We’re only 40 people,” Bleszinski said. “I still love consoles; if the time is right, we’ll find the right partner to help us port it. We can’t do it ourselves.”

He went on to say that he plans to speak with Xbox boss Phil Spencer and PlayStation executive Adam Boyes to determine “if we can make something happen” regarding bringing LawBreakers to console.

For his part, Spencer recently said that LawBreakers would be “welcome” on Xbox One. Meanwhile, Boyes attended a recent LawBreakers demo event and has talked about the game positively on Twitter.

“I think Sony and Microsoft are currently yelling at each other,” Bleszinki told GameSpot, potentially referencing behind-the-scenes negotiations to bring LawBreakers to console.

LawBreakers is a free-to-play game that will be published by Nexon America for PC. The game is due to launch in 2016 for PC, with a release for consoles possibly to follow thereafter.
