Mario Creator Reveals He’s Bowser Jr.’s Mother in Myth-Busting Video

Ahead of the release of Super Mario Maker later this week, Shigeru Miyamoto has addressed some common Mario myths, finally revealing whether there’s any truth to them or if that kid from school with the uncle that works at Nintendo is a liar.

Among the myths he tackles is whether the iconic character is named after Nintendo of America’s warehouse landlord, whether he destroys bricks by punching them, and if the Mario on the first game’s cover is about to lose a life.

He also confirms he’s Bowser Jr.’s mother, which is a revelation we weren’t ready for today.

In GameSpot’s Super Mario Maker review we awarded the game a 9/10 score, praising the “array of joyous, challenging stages,” the “nostalgic melding of 8-bit art with more recent enemies and items,” the “catchy remixes of classic Mario tunes,” and “wonderful surprises and Easter Eggs to discover.”

“The first time I discovered that not only could I make a giant, flame-spewing piranha plant, but I could also make it fly, I cackled with horrible glee at the possibilities,” reads our review.

“The game won’t necessarily turn you into the next Shigeru Miyamoto, but you can almost feel a little bit of that magic rubbing off every time you upload a new creation.”
