Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, the Wii U crossover game featuring the two franchises, launches in Japan on December 26, Nintendo has announced.
Genei Ibun Roku #FE, as it’s known in Japan, was dated in a blog post on the game’s Japanese website. The blog reveals that the first run of copies will include free DLC featuring costumes from other Atlus games, including Shin Megami Tensei IV.
Additionally, a special Fortissimo Edition was also announced. According to a translation by Siliconera, it consists of a special box, soundtrack CD, art book, and additional DLC costumes. Japan will also get a special Wii U bundle that includes a system, three DLC quests, stickers, and more. Pricing for these versions was not shared.
We first heard about SMTxFE back in January 2013. As we’ve more recently learned, the original concept was to build a crossover in the style of the Fire Emblem games, but that was abandoned in favor of an RPG more like the SMT or Persona games (Persona being a sub-series within SMT). Fire Emblem characters feature in the game, and some aspects of the franchise, such as the weapon triangle, are also present. You can read more about the game and its origins here.
Nintendo has yet to share an international release for the game. Considering its appearance at E3 and a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, however, it does look like the company intends on bringing it to western markets.
