Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS Getting Super Mario Maker Stage

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS are getting a new stage based on the recently released level-builder game, Super Mario Maker, and from the looks of the first gameplay trailer, it’s going to be bananas.

The level will be highly dynamic, as Nintendo says its layout changes every time you play. What’s more, if players destroy blocks, the Super Mario Maker “hand” may appear to re-animate them. Watch the video below to see the new Super Smash Bros. stage in action.

The Super Mario Maker-inspired stage arrives on September 30 for Wii U and 3DS. It will cost $2.50 on each platform, while players can also buy both versions together for $3.50.

This level adds to Super Smash Bros.’ existing extensive lineup of paid DLC, including stages, characters, and costumes.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has sold more than 3.8 million copies, while the 3DS edition has shifted in excess of 7 million units, for a combined total of close to 11 million copies.

As for Super Mario Maker, it launched on September 11. GameSpot’s review scored the Wii U game a 9/10.

“The game won’t necessarily turn you into the next Shigeru Miyamoto, but you can almost feel a little bit of that magic rubbing off every time you upload a new creation,” critic Justin Haywald wrote in his review.
