Developer 343 Industries has shared more details on how Halo 5: Guardians‘ new Requisition System works. Detailed on a blog post and explained in the video above, the REQ system has been “designed to reward players for time spent in Halo 5’s multiplayer experiences.” According to the post, the REQ system takes inspiration from the collectible card game genre.
Over 1,000 unique REQ Cards will be available for players to collect at launch, and more will be introduced over time. Players can earn REQ Points by playing in Arena or Warzone matchmaking games. These points can then be spent to redeem REQ Packs containing a variety of REQ Cards, which are unlockable weapons, armors, vehicles, and more.
REQ Cards can be either permanent or single-use. As the name suggests, permanent REQ Cards can be used any time once they are unlocked. Single-use cards tend to unlock more powerful weapons and equipment, and as such disappear after one use. Some REQ Cards can only be used in Warzone, while all other cosmetic types can be equipped in both Warzone and Arena.
In addition, some REQ Cards are rarer than others. The order of rarity is as follows:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Ultra-Rare
- Legendary
- Mythic
Check out some of the revealed REQ Cards below. 343 Industries will be revealing more REQ Cards as the release of Halo 5: Guardians draws near. The game will launch on October 27 exclusively for Xbox One. Microsoft recently showed five minutes of gameplay footage from the campaign, although Master Chief did not appear.
