A new James Bond game is in development, not for consoles, but rather mobile devices. The game, called James Bond: World of Espionage, is slated to launch “soon” for iOS and Android devices.
World of Espionage is a strategy game where you’ll collect characters and equip them with all manner of gadgets and items. It also includes a PvP mode and social functionality like messaging and leaderboards. There’s not much more to go on at this point, but you can watch a trailer for World of Espionage below.
Play the game at launch and you’ll earn some “Welcome Pack” bonuses, including 1 Stamina Refill, a speedboat, and 50 specialization points for use in the game.
World of Espionage comes from Glu Mobile, the mobile gaming giant that’s also behind the hugely successful Kim Kardashian game, as well as a long list of other licensed titles. A release date has not been announced, but it’s a safe bet to assume it’ll be around the time that Spectre hits theaters, starting in October.
The most recent James Bond game for consoles was 2012’s 007 Legends, which was released alongside the movie Skyfall. The game drew from iconic films such as Goldfinger, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, License to Kill, Die Another Day, and Moonraker, but with Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and other famous agents swapped out for Daniel Craig. GameSpot scored the game a 3.5/10.
