The Sims 4’s Next Expansion Delayed

Electronic Arts has announced that the next expansion for The Sims 4, called Get Together, will launch on December 8. Announced at Gamescom in August, this latest expansion for the simulation game adds a new area called Windenburg, as well as new DJ and Dancing skills, along with the ability to make your own Club. This represents a slight delay, as the expansion was previously expected to launch in November.

“As you might have guessed from the name, this expansion is about your Sims getting together in really exciting new ways,” senior producer Lyndsay Pearson said in a blog post. “We loved seeing your reactions to the news, and closely followed all of your comments and discussions.”

Pearson added: “Your enthusiasm and feedback inspired us to work even harder to make sure that this pack is everything it could be. So we’ve decided to take a little more time to work on the expansion pack.”

She explained that developer Maxis is spending the extra time to “add more polish and depth” to the expansion. “We think this time will allow us to make the experience even bigger, better, and cooler,” she said.

More information about Get Together will be announced in “early November.” For now, you can check out Pearson’s full blog post.

In other recent news about The Sims franchise, Maxis boss Lucy Bradshaw recently left EA after 23 years with the company. In the wake of her departure, EA CEO Andrew Wilson stressed that Maxis franchises, including The Sims and SimCity, “[have] never had a bigger and more engaged player base.” He also said he anticipates these franchises growing bigger in the future.
