Pre-loading for Xbox One shooter Halo 5: Guardians has begun. Everyone who preordered a digital copy from the Xbox Store can now pre-load the game so it’s ready to go the second it unlocks on October 27. Pre-loading works with the standard $60 version of Halo 5, as well as its $90 Digital Deluxe edition.
Though you can pre-load Halo 5 right now, it won’t actually unlock until 12:01 AM EDT on October 27.
Microsoft has also confirmed that it will push out an update for Halo 5 that will “supplement online multiplayer with map content” for the Arena and Warzone multiplayer modes. This update is scheduled to land sometime “prior to launch,” and Microsoft recommends setting your Xbox One to “Instant On” so that this update is automatically applied so you can jump right in on October 27.
Everyone who preorders Halo 5 from the Xbox Store gets a loadout weapon and custom skin for Warzone. Meanwhile, the $90 Digital Deluxe version comes with a copy of the animated show Halo: The Fall of Reach, a Warzone REQ Bundle, and the loadout weapon and custom skin.
The Halo 5 release date is set for October 27 exclusively for Xbox One. In other recent news about the game, 343 has announced its launch day multiplayer playlists and revealed all the achievements.
