There has been much talk in past few weeks about Wolverine 3, which will see Hugh Jackman make his final appearance as the popular X-Men character. His involvement in X-Men: Apocalypse, the sixth movie in the superhero franchise due for release next summer, has been less certain. But it has now been reported that the actor will be returning for reshoots on the film.
Comicbook.com have stated that the reshoots will take place in Montreal in January, at the same studio used for principle photography. According to the local paper Le Journal de MontrĂ©al, “it seems that Hugh Jackman will be on hand” for the new round of filming.
While it has never been officially confirmed that Wolverine would feature in X-Men: Apocalypse, in June it was revealed that props were being produced for Jackman. Kika NY, a New York-based leather goods manufacturer, announced on Instagram that the company had been hired “to make a special duffle backpack” for Jackman to use during the Montreal shoot.
X-Men: Apocalypse is being directed by Bryan Singer, who made the first two movies in the series and returned for 2014’s Days of Future Past, which has become the most successful film in the series to date.
Earlier this week, Singer posted an image on Instagram of himself and editor John Ottman in the editing room, as they continue to work on the film. The director also added that a teaser was “coming soon.”
X-Men: Apocalypse is due for release on May 27, 2016. It stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, and Rose Byrne.
