Bloodborne Servers Taken Down for "Emergency Maintenance"

Bloodborne‘s servers have been taken down for “emergency maintenance,” Sony Japan has announced. The PlayStation 4 game remains playable offline, but the online modes will be unavailable for “a few days.”

“We are currently conducting emergency maintenance on the game servers,” the company said. “The maintenance should be complete within a few days. We will update you again once the maintenance ends.”

No further details were announced. However, Kotaku reports that the “emergency maintenance” may have something to do with an exploit that potentially gives players the ability to unlock The Old Hunters content for free.

Lead hosting engineer Tim Wernicke said on Reddit that an “exploit and serious issues” have been identified, which is why Sony is taking down the game’s servers for a brief while.

“We’ve received some really important feedback about an exploit and serious issues that exist in the game,” Wernicke said. “The game is currently undergoing emergency maintenance, and we’re working non-stop to get some things patched and back online. So a huge thank-you to everyone here for the feedback, and please be patient while we work to get things restored.”

“I apologize that I can’t be more specific, but I wanted to let you know that we value your feedback, and what you’re doing here is really helping. So, thanks!”

The Old Hunters was released last week. For more, check out GameSpot’s review.
