Xbox One Exclusive ReCore Inspired by Metroid and Zelda

ReCore was one of the many Xbox One-exclusive titles shown at E3 this year, but other than a cinematic trailer, not much else was said about the game. However, in a recent interview with The Verge, Armature Studio co-founder and ex-Metroid Prime developer Mark Pacini mentioned Metroid and The Legend of Zelda as possible inspirations for the title.

ReCore is a joint project between Armature Studio and Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune’s Comcept Inc. Pacini said when he first met with Microsoft to discuss the collaboration, he wasn’t convinced it was a good idea, pointing out the disappointing Xbox One reveal and focus on film and television as factors.

However, Microsoft apparently wanted a game for gamers and things like SmartGlass and Kinect were never forced on the ReCore team.

“It feels like, for us, the runway’s been kind of cleared. So we can just concentrate on making a really good game and putting features in that make sense for this game,” says Pacini.

ReCore is currently slated for release in Q1 2016, which ends on March 31 of next year. Back in November, Xbox One boss Phil Spencer said we’ll be seeing “a lot more of ReCore in 2016.”
