No Star Wars 7 Extended Cut for Home Video Release

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams has explained what will be available for the movie’s upcoming home video release on DVD and Blu-ray. He tells Entertainment Weekly that it will not come with an extended edition, though fans can look forward to seeing some deleted scenes.

“There will be deleted scenes, but not an extended version,” Abrams said today at a press tour event for 11.23.63 in Beverly Hills.

The Force Awakens‘ theatrical run time is 2 hours and 16 minutes.

He tells EW that he doesn’t know for sure how long the longest cut of The Force Awakens was before it was edited down, but estimates that, with credits, it was close to two hours and 50 minutes.
