Star Wars Battlefront exceeded EA’s expectations, shipping more than 13 million copies, the publisher announced today as part of its latest earnings report. 13 million was the number of copies that EA previously announced that it expected Battlefront would ship during its initial debut.
EA did not say, however, how many copies of Battlefront were sold-through to consumers.
When Battlefront launched in November, EA said the game broke download records for the company, becoming its “largest digital launch of all time.”
For the quarter ended December 31, EA posted revenue of $1.803 billion, which was above the company’s guidance of $1.775 billion and ahead of the $1.42 billion the company recorded during the same period last year. EA made a profit of $596 million during the quarter, up substantially from the $388 profit it made during the holiday quarter a year ago.
Here are some other highlights from EA’s earnings report today, as written by EA:
- The return of Need for Speed drew more than twice as many monthly active players in Q3 than the previous game.
