Not This Year

EA revealed this week that Mass Effect Andromeda may not make it out this holiday as previously expected. It’s now due out during EA’s fiscal Q4 2017, which is January-March 2017. [Full story]

Teasing the Future

EA also teased this week that the sky is the limit when it comes to the games it can make inside of the Star Wars universe. “As everyone knows, with Star Wars, there is an unlimited amount of things you can do with the content. And as Disney starts to add more and more new content, that gives fuel to our ability to add more games around it.” [Full story]

Xbox One Plus?

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer made waves this week when he said the gaming industry may see upgradeable console hardware some day. A bold, interesting claim. He has since toned his original comments down somewhat, saying this is not likely to happen anytime soon, though it remains one of his longer-term platform visions as Head of Xbox. Moving On

Nintendo’s Erik Peterson, who had been with the company in various roles for more than a decade, announced this week that he’s leaving the Mario and Zelda firm. [Full story]

New Trick

Fallout 4’s Dogmeat is a faithful, helpful canine companion–but he lacks a backback. No longer! Thanks to this new mod, Dogmeat has learned a new trick. [Full story]

Happy Goggles

McDonald’s, yes McDonald’s, is getting in on the VR hype train. The restaurant’s Swedish arm is rolling out Google Cardboard-style VR goggles for a limited time this year. [Full story]

Still on Top

Bill Gates is still the world’s richest person. Forbes put out its billionaire list this week and the Microsoft founder was again at the top of the chart. You can see the list of all the world’s billionaires here.

Umbrella Corps’ Newest Most

Resident Evil spinoff Umbrella Corps is getting a new multi-mission mode called…Multi-Mission. You can read all about it here on Capcom’s website.

Golem

Here is a great interview that Marty O’Donnel and Jaime Griesemer gave to Playboy (mostly SFW link) in which they discuss why AAA game development is so darn tough and how they are adjusting to life and work at their new, small studio, Highwire Games. The team’s first game is a PlayStation VR title called Golem.

Knights of the Cheap Republic

Deliverance Delayed

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the RPG with no fantasy or magic, will not make it out this summer as previously planned. It will not launch this fall alongside the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. [Full story]
