Activision Continues to Tease Rumored Call of Duty Infinite War With Cryptic Video

[UPDATE] Activision teased the next Call of Duty game even more today with a cryptic video. We’re not sure exactly what to make of it. Watch for yourself above. In the video, titled “Know Your Enemy,” a fierce-looking man gives this address:

“Make no mistake, we will rip you from the history books. Every last trace of you, gone. You will know loss. We will be the architects of your pain. We will build monuments to your destruction. The whole world will bear witness to this: our ascension. We will blot out the skies, we will bury you in darkness. Know this, and know us. We are your enemy. We are the Settlement Defense Front.”

Additionally, Charlieintel discovered that this man, presumably the leader of the Settlement Defense Front, showed up in Call of Duty: Black Ops III‘s Nuk3town map today. Take a look:

The original story is below.

It sure looks like this year’s Call of Duty entry is indeed called Infinite Warfare. After rumors and reports this week suggested that would be its name, Activision has now officially trademarked “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” and “Infinite Warfare.” The trademark applications were filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office on April 26 and can be seen in full here and here (via CharlieIntel).

Trademarks alone aren’t always the best indicators of future announcements. But, given all the other evidence for Infinite Warfare that emerged this week, it’s looking like this won’t be a Call of Duty Space Warfare situation where a trademarked game doesn’t end up getting announced.

Additionally, Red Sox pitcher David Price and the band We Came As Romans have hyped the upcoming Call of Duty announcement with pictures of t-shirts. Price’s image shows what appears to be the back of the shirt, which shows the logo from yesterday’s Black Ops III Easter egg. The front side of the shirt, on the other hand, shows an an “IW7” logo. Both tweets use the hashtag #COD2016.

You can see them below.

This year’s Call of Duty game is in development at Infinity Ward, the creator of the popular Modern Warfare series. It is also believed that Activision is working on a remaster of 2007’s an-favorite entry Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Some reports have pointed to an official reveal for the game next week. GameSpot will bring you all the news about this year’s Call of Duty game when it’s announced.

The next Call of Duty may not be the only big-name FPS to be announced next week. Electronic Arts said recently that it will announce the next Battlefield game on May 6.
