With a few of those huge, big-budget superhero films out of the way, many people forget that there are still a ton of summer blockbuster films headed our way. Most of them don’t involve people in masks with outrageous powers, but they are still worth checking out. Here are some of the upcoming films we can’t wait to see, in the order of their release date, starting in June.

All movies open on Friday unless otherwise noted.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film wasn’t incredibly great, but it was a lot of fun. Now, the Out of the Shadows sequel seems to have raised the bar, bringing on director Dave Green (Earth to Echo) and adding Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Casey Jones. The trailers make the film look over-the-top and the perfect summer film to sit back and watch mutated creatures fight each other and blow up cars.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows opens on June 3.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Andy Samberg has been on a roll recently. FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been hilarious, and HBO’s 7 Days in Hell is one of the funniest things we’ve seen in quite some time. Now, he joins his Lonely Island partners Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone for this new comedy about an ex-boy band member whose solo career isn’t going to hot. From the looks of the trailers, it has a mockumentary style to it as well. It looks hilarious and a complete mockery of celebrities in general.

Popstar opens on June 3.

Warcraft

Many of us have spent hundreds of hours, in front of computer, getting wolf pelts for lazy residents in World of Warcraft. Now, Duncan Jones (Moon) is writing and directing the Warcraft film which looks pretty epic. There’s going to be a lot of action and giant battle scenes, all while building on the world of Azeroth. However, there’s a small part of us that hopes it opens with the hero collecting wolf pelts.

Warcraft opens on June 10.

The Conjuring 2

The first Conjuring film had quite a cult following. Based on the real life adventures of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, the sequel takes the duo overseas to investigate a poltergeist in England. Director James Wan returns to helm the movie. The trailer certainly looks pretty freaky. There seems to be enough scares and story here to keep this film extremely entertaining.

The Conjuring 2 opens on June 10.

Finding Dory

It has been 13 years since Pixar debuted Finding Nemo. Now, a sequel is on its way, following secondary character Dory (Ellen DeGeneres). She’s on a mission to find her family. Pixar puts out some wonderful, sometimes emotional films that truly stick with the viewer. The trailers for the film look heartwarming and full of life. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a film like this. Here are a couple of new clips to wet your whistle.

Finding Dory opens on June 17.

Clown

Although Clown got an Australian release in 2015, it’s hitting theaters this June, along with an on-demand video release. The trailer hilarious and sadistic. A man has to haphazardly put together a clown outfit for his son’s birthday. However, he starts becoming a demon clown. Yes, the premise is ridiculous, but this movie looks highly entertaining. It’s also produced by Eli Roth (Hostel), so that may give you an idea of how outlandish this may be.

Clown has a limited release on June 17.

Independence Day: Resurgence

20 years ago, a bunch of aliens came to Earth and were beaten by a Macintosh computer virus, uploaded by Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. Now, those aliens are back and ready to blow up all of the planet’s precious landmarks again. Will Smith isn’t returning for the new film, but Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A Fox, and Bill Pullman are. The trailers show mayhem, destruction, chaos, and everything else you’d want to see in a summer blockbuster.

Independence Day: Resurgence opens on June 24.

The Shallows

A surfer gets attacked by a shark and gets stuck on a rock in the ocean, hundreds of feet from shore, with the shark circling her. Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) stars in this film, and while the plot sounds basic and a tad uninteresting, the first trailer was intense. Sometimes, simplicity works best when you’re up against films with massive casts and convoluted plots. This film looks like it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Shallows opens on June 29.

The BFG

Disney is bringing the iconic 1982 novel by Roald Dahl to life. While “BFG” may mean something different to gamers who love Doom, it actually stands for “Big, Friendly Giant.” Steven Spielberg seems to capture the essence of the book fairly well. In addition, Spielberg is working with E.T. and Indian in the Cupboard writer Melissa Mathison once again. This film looks like it has all the fantasy and wonderment of the book that we fell in love with as kids.

The BFG opens on Wednesday, July 1.

The Purge: Election Year

Time for another night of committing every crime imaginable in this newest Purge film. Frank Grillo returns to the third installment of the series as a bodyguard for a senator, trapped in the streets during the Purge. Said senator is the front-runner for office who wants to get rid of the Purge once and for all. Of course, she then becomes a target. The first film was lackluster, with an interesting concept. However, the second film was highly entertaining. Maybe we’re a bit sadistic for wanting to see this film.

The Purge: Election Year opens on Wednesday, July 1.

Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters has one of the most polarizing pre-releases in recent memory. While it will be extremely hard to live up to the first film, Paul Feig (Freaks and Geeks, Spy) helms and writes the film with writer Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation). It has a solid comedy team behind it, delving into the much-adored franchise. The most recent trailer was pretty funny, and above everything else, the movie looks fun.

Ghostbusters opens on July 15.

The Infiltrator

If busting ghosts isn’t your thing, then there’s another film opening that weekend that looks pretty awesome. Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) plays Robert Mazur, a DEA agent who goes undercover to infiltrate cartels to help launder money, which leads him to Pablo Escobar. Based on a true story, this intense drama will take Mazur on an insane journey as he gets closer to the biggest drug kingpin of the ’80s.

The Infiltrator opens on July 15.

Star Trek: Beyond

Captain Kirk and his crew are back and on another adventure in space. This time, they are exploring the furthest reaches of space and up against an enemy who will destroy anything in his path. The Star Trek reboot has been amusing to say the least and with this third installment, Justin Lin (Fast & Furious) will helm the film. The newest trailer contains a lot of action in space and a whole lot of destruction. It looks like the perfect “popcorn flick.”

Star Trek: Beyond opens on July 22.

Suicide Squad

While the first part of 2016 was filled with superheroes punching each other, this August film will be anything but that. The overall dark tone of Batman v Superman left a sour taste in many people’s mouths, so it’s fitting for a film about a team of supervillains, tasked to complete near impossible suicide missions. While the idea we’re getting another comic book movie is exciting, what’s really got us pumped for Suicide Squad is the fact David Ayer (Training Day, Fury) is the writer and director of the film. Mixing his gritty style with the Suicide Squad concept sounds really intriguing.

Suicide Squad opens on August 5.

Don’t Breathe

Heist meets horror in Don’t Breathe, the story of a group of thieves trying to steal from a blind man. However, they quickly learn that they’re stealing from a man who is one part Daredevil and one part Predator. The first trailer for the film quickly piqued our interest. The film features Stephan Lang (Avatar) and features the director and writers behind the Evil Dead remake. In a summer featuring plenty of remakes, sequels, and films adapted from another piece of media, Don’t Breathe seems like a thrilling original story.
