E3 Awaits

Ubisoft announced this week that Watch Dogs 2 will be part of its E3 2016 showcase. This was entirely expected, but this is the first time Ubisoft confirmed it outright. Buckle up! [Full story]

A Huge Hit

More than 7 million people have played Overwatch since it arrived on May 24, Blizzard announced this week. That’s a huge number, and would seem to suggest that Activision has yet another hit franchise on its hands. [Full story]

Death Threats

After announcing that No Man’s Sky would not be out in June as suspected, some fans were upset, hurling death threats at creator Sean Murray. Additionally, the editor of the website that broke the delay news received threats as well. [Full story]

Dark Brotherhood

The Elder Scrolls Online’s Dark Brotherhood expansion launched for PC and Mac players this week. It adds the Gold Coast region from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion–and its guild of assassins.

Face Off

Digital Foundry has posted its technical analysis of Dead Island Definitive Collection, which includes remastered versions of Dead Island and sequel Riptide. Spoiler alert: the PS4 edition seems to perform better. Read the full report and see comparison videos here.

Up Close

You have to wait until December to see the Assassin’s Creed movie, but now you can get a closer look at main character Aguilar’s costume. Check it out above and in full HD here.

Sprouting

The next free update for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is out now. The free update is called Trouble in Zombopolis: Part One, and it adds a new map, two more characters, and 1,200 new character customization items.

Holy cow, someone has made a real, working version of Half-Life 2’s drone scanner. Check out this incredible video to see it in action.

“A Short Period of Time”

The Last Guardian has had one of the longest development cycles in the history of games. That was not the plan. Director Fumito Ueda told IGN this week that, in fact, the original goal was to “create something good in a short period of time.”

Earth Wars

After the shutdown of Transformers Battle Tactics earlier this year, a new Transformers mobile game has arrived. It’s called Earth Wars, and it’s out now on iOS and Android.

“Transformers: Earth Wars breaks new ground for the genre, pairing authentic Transformers storytelling with fast-paced gameplay, beautiful 3D animation, and hundreds of characters with diverse strengths and abilities,” reads a line from its description.

Unity’s Next Products

During the Unite Europe event this week, Unity announced its latest products, which are scheduled to launch in June. These include Unity Personal (free), Unity Plus (starting at $35/month), Unity Pro ($125/month), Unity Enterprise (pricing on request), and a pay to own option. A detailed breakdown of these packages is available at Unity’s website.

New Hellblade Trailer

A lengthy new trailer for upcoming PS4 game Hellblade has been released. It focuses on on the game’s combat, specifically. Check it out here, while this PlayStation Blog post contains even more details.
