Today, we are pleased to announce detailed information regarding the 2013 World Championship Series Season 1 Finals.
In April, we announced the WCS as a way to unite the many storylines that filled the competitive StarCraft II scene. Over the past several weeks, Premier League players from around the world have competed for a seat at the cross-region 2013 WCS Season 1 Finals, where a WCS Season 1 champion will be crowned.
The Season Finals will feature the top five Premier League players from each region, as well as one additional player from WCS Korea, which is the region hosting the event. The round of 16 and round of 8 will take place live from Seoul, South Korea at the Yong-san OnGameNet eSports Stadium, followed by the semifinal and Grand Final at the Jamsil Arena. For those unfamiliar with the venue, Jamsil Arena was previously used to host volleyball competition at the 1988 Olympic Games.
Host William ‘Chobra’ Cho will be joined by shoutcasters Erik ‘DoA’ Lonnquist, Christopher ‘MonteCristo’ Mykles, Sean ‘Day[9]’ Plott, and Shaun ‘Apollo’ Clark as they narrate the action starting at 6:00 p.m. PDT each evening from June 6 – 8. The show kicks off with the round of 16 group stage on Thursday, followed by the single-elimination round of 8 on Friday, and the semi-finals and Grand Finals on Saturday. Every Season Finals game will be broadcast for free in 720p HD, and you can tune in at twitch.tv/wcs to catch the top players from each region as they compete for coveted WCS Points, a share in the $150,000 prize pool, and the title of Season 1 Champion.
Entry into the event is free all weekend long. Additionally, you can find more detailed venue information below.
