Season 1 of the StarCraft II 2013 World Championship Series is in the books, but before we get into the thick of Season 2, we have a Tier 1 event coming this weekend with DreamHack Summer Open in Jönköping, Sweden.
Join Tim Frazier and James Reilman as they preview this summer showdown.
The event will feature 128 of the best players in the world including local Scandinavian players ThorZaIN, NaNiwa, Elfi, and Bischu, as well as American players Suppy, Xenocider and HuK. They’ll face off against top Korean players such as Jaedong, Squirtle, GuMiho, and other world-class players from around the globe.
Players will compete in three consecutive group stages before entering a 16 person single-elimination bracket to compete for 176,000 SEK or $26,000 in prizes as well as 3600 WCS Points. As with the previous DreamHack Open, the Top 16 players will receive valuable WCS points for the year-long countdown to the 2013 WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon where the Top 16 overall point earners will qualify for the event.
