Source says Battlefield publisher let go of a “small number” of employees recently as part of company-wide restructuring.
The layoffs at Electronic Arts are reportedly continuing. A source has told Polygon that the Battlefield publisher has let go a “small number” of employees recently.
This source said fewer than 20 employees were affected by the job cuts, which are supposedly related to the company-wide restructuring effort that EA began months ago.
This move resulted in a 10 percent reduction in the publisher’s total workforce–or approximately 900 people.
It is unclear which department or departments the cuts came from, though a game research analyst said on Twitter that he had been laid off today.
EA is not the only company cutting jobs. Yesterday, Square Enix confirmed that Hitman developer IO Interactive had laid off 50 percent of its total workforce and canceled multiple projects as it refocuses on development of a new AAA Hitman title.
