Debut trailer for upcoming DreamWorks film based on EA’s racing series features Breaking Bad star delivering monologue.
The first trailer for the upcoming Need for Speed movie from DreamWorks and staring Breaking Bad lead Aaron Paul was released today (via Joblo). The 90-second trailer features Paul delivering a monologue while scenes of fast cars and police chases cycle through.
“They took everything from me. I do not fear, for you are with me,” Paul says in the trailer (below). “All those who defied me shall be ashamed and disgraced. Those who wage war against me shall perish. I will find strength, find guidance, and I will triumph.”
The Need for Speed movie will be released in theaters on March 14, 2014. It tells the story of a street racer (Paul) who teams up with an arrogant associate (Captain America‘s Dominic Cooper) only to find himself framed and sent to prison. After leaving the clink, he joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to score revenge.
Other actors confirmed for the Need for Speed movie include Michael Keaton (Mr. Mom, Batman), hip-hop artist Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez (Battle Los Angeles, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Rami Malek (Night at the Museum, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), and Harrison Gilbertson (Beneath Hill 60, Accidents Happen).
Directing the Need for Speed film is Scott Waugh, who is best known for helming Act of Valor, a military movie starring active-duty US Navy SEALs. Possibly more relevant to the Need for Speed project is Waugh’s experience on stunt crews for dozens of films, including Torque, The Italian Job, and Biker Boyz.
Waugh will be filming a screenplay penned by George Gatins, the executive producer of DreamWorks’ 2010 comedy She’s Out of My League. Gatins developed the Need for Speed film’s story with his brother John, who is producing the film and also wrote the scripts for Real Steel and Flight.
