Resident Evil creator’s upcoming horror game The Evil Within gets a funny mock news story from The Onion

Bethesda and fake news website The Onion have teamed up for a hilarious news story that parodies the upcoming horror game The Evil Within‘s use of barbed wire.

“Barbed wire is a positive force for good,” Barbed Wire Lobby head Annette Coleman says in the video. “It protects our junkyards from scrap metal thieves and helps keep our cattle ranches safe from wrestlers.”

“But Bethesda thinks it’s OK to ignore all the benefits of barbed wire and make it look like some scary thing used by murderers,” she goes on. “If Bethesda wants to make this right, they should have the main character go behind a fence and then be safe from monsters because they can’t climb over the barbed wire to get him. Now that’s a game I would play.”

The news story is obviously a joke and it’s really just an ad for The Evil Within. But it’s funny all the same and you can watch the entire video above. The Evil Within, the brainchild of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, launches August 26 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
