After news recently made the rounds that the PlayStation 4 version of Watch Dogs would run at the vaunted resolution and framerate combo of 1080p and 60 frames per second, Sony has amended the source of that information to remove any mention of those numbers.
The PlayStation.com entry for Watch Dogs was recently discovered to list the figures above. “Hack everything as you make your way through Chicago’s underground as you experience Watch Dogs in a way that only PS4 can provide, at 60 frames per second in 1080p,” the page read previously.
Currently, the same page shows those specific numbers have been stripped out. The same paragraph now concludes, “Hack everything as you make your way through Chicago’s underground as you experience Watch Dogs in a way that only PS4 can provide.”
This removal has been taken to mean that Watch Dogs will not run at 1080p and 60fps on the PS4, although publisher Ubisoft has yet to make any official announcements. GameSpot has contacted Ubisoft for comment.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft reportedly indicated that 1080p was the target resolution for the PS4 version of Watch Dogs. It never committed to that, however, and would only say that “the same experience” is available in all versions of the game and that the Xbox One and PS4 both were being utilized to their “full capabilities.”
