Assassin’s Creed Unity "Best Entry Point Since Assassin’s Creed 1," Dev Says

If you’ve never played an Assassin’s Creed game, developer Ubisoft promises that this fall’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is the best place to jump in. Unity is meant to be a new starting point for the franchise, taking a different approach to the modern-day story and beginning a “new cycle of Assassin’s Creed games.”

In a video posted on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel after E3, creative director Alex Amancio mentions that Unity, in a sense, makes a clean break from the past games. “It’s a new start, it’s a new narrative start,” Amancio explains. “That is symbolized by a completely new context for the present day. You’ve seen a little bit of an evolution with [Assassin’s Creed IV:] Black Flag. We’re not going to do the same thing. What we’re doing with Unity is really the beginning [of] this new cycle of Assassin’s Creed games.”

He continues, saying that there’s no better time for new players to try out the series: “I would say that Assassin’s Creed Unity is the best entry point for the franchise since [Assassin’s Creed 1].”

Assassin’s Creed Unity launches on October 28 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Although nothing’s been confirmed, there have been rumors of an Assassin’s Creed game in development for last-gen systems. Recently, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Unity takes advantage of the new systems’ power, and that the game is “really a good demonstration of what those machines can do.”
