Watch People Scream as They Play P.T./Silent Hills

Over the weekend, Konami published a pair of videos showing people’s reactions to playing P.T., which we now know is actually a brilliant viral marketing effort for the next Silent Hill game, called Silent Hills. One of the videos shows young Japanese women playing through the demo, while another shows older Japanese women playing the same demo. There is lots of screaming in both videos, so you may want to turn down your volume if you’re at school or work.

GameSpot’s Mary Kish also played through the P.T./Silent Hills demo and you can watch a scare compilation right here.

P.T. was announced during Sony’s Gamescom briefing last week, and the free demo was made available later that day for PlayStation 4. It was then discovered by a fan that P.T. was actually a fake-out (it stands for “playable teaser”) for the next Silent Hill game, which Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro are working on together.

The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus will also play a role in the game, which Kojima says will be so scary that you will “sh** your pants.” The designer said last week that making a game that is so scary could limit its reach, but he doesn’t care about that. Silent Hills is in development using the FOX Engine, the same technology that is powering upcoming open-world game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. No release date for Silent Hills has been announced, and it is also unclear if the game is coming to Xbox platforms, too.

On the subject of bringing P.T./Silent Hills to other platforms, Kojima said on Twitter: “Surprisingly there’re quite many people who want to play PT but don’t have PS4.”
