Crazy Taxi: City Rush is not likely to rank highly on a list of possible replacements for ‘you’ in the famous line, “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?” But here we are.
Hulk Hogan, who was once at the top of the wrestling world, now drives a taxi. Virtually, at least.
The latest update for Crazy Taxi: City Rush, the free-to-play mobile version of Crazy Taxi released at the end of July, has introduced the “Hulk Takeover.” Basically, the game has been reskinned to introduce a bunch of Hulk Hogan-themed content for the month of October; everything from the app icon to the taxi’s driver has been replaced with Hogan in one form or another.
And Hogan does more than just drive the cabs: There are new Hulk-ified vehicles, including the “Hulk tank;” new Hulk customization options for taxis; and “Hulkamania dollars” for you to earn by doing well.
Not everything in the update has to do with Hogan. Two other new drivers (Xavier Grant and Kelli Kelly) are now available, controller support has been added, and there are new sharing features that let you take a picture of your taxi or share replays. Because Hulk couldn’t be too far away from any aspect of this update, though, you’ll be able to share replays to win diamonds (a premium in-game currency) and signed Hulk Hogan “goodies.”
Branching outside of wrestling is nothing new for Hogan, as he’s starred in bad movies, been in bad commercials, and created bad albums. He’s even appeared in non-wrestling video games before–most recently, in Saints Row: The Third–but never in quite this fashion. He’ll make his next video game appearance next month in WWE 2K15, but only if you purchase the special Hulkamania Edition (unless 2K decides to offer Hogan as DLC in the future).
City Rush is available for download on iOS and Android.
