WWE 2K15 Offers an Exclusive Mode on Xbox 360 and PS3

Choosing the Xbox 360 or PS3 version of WWE 2K15 will allow you to get your hands on the wrestling game a few weeks earlier than waiting for the Xbox One or PS4 version, but there’s another reason to consider doing so: an exclusive NXT mode.

Known as Who Got NXT, this mode presents you with a series of 20 matches to complete. You’ll play through four matches as each of five current or former NXT wrestlers: Adrian Neville, Rusev, Corey Graves, Bo Dallas, and Sami Zayn (better known outside of WWE as El Generico). Each of these matches offers three optional objectives in addition to a match stipulation (usually pin or submit your opponent) that must be completed to continue. Matches need to be played in sequential order, and once you’ve beaten all four with any given wrestler, he will become a part of the regular roster.

Once you’re done with Who Got NXT’s 20 matches, you’ll then be able to play something called the Proving Ground. 2K describes this as the spiritual successor to WWE 2K14’s Defeat the Streak feature, which had you trying to best the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. With Brock Lesnar having rendered that goal meaningless, Proving Ground gives you a different opportunity to follow in Lesnar’s footsteps–by defeating John Cena.

This setup for this match will begin with a Cena promo from back in April, where he called out someone on the roster to face him. You’ll then come out as one of the five NXT wrestlers to challenge an AI-controlled version of Cena who is “very tough to defeat.” By beating him with all five, you’ll then be able to repeat this match with anyone on the game’s regular roster. A leaderboard will allow you to compare your score with that of other players, with submission wins being an especially good way to reach the top.

In addition, you’ll unlock some NXT-themed items by completing all of the optional objectives in Who Got NXT mode. This includes the NXT arena, NXT Arrival arena, NXT championship, NXT tag team championship, and NXT women’s championship.

All five of these NXT wrestlers will also be available in the Xbox One and PS4 versions of 2K15. Rather than unlock them through Who Got NXT, they’ll instead be unlocked by playing through MyCareer mode. You can check out what three of them (Zayn, Graves, and Neville) look like on current-gen consoles in the screenshot gallery below.

2K15 launches this coming Tuesday, October 28, on Xbox 360 and PS3. Following a delay, the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be released on November 18.
