Battlefield Hardline the "Most Complete" FPS Out There, EA Says

Electronic Arts isn’t holding back in boasting about its 2015 first-person shooter Battlefield Hardline, saying today that the upcoming game is the “most complete” FPS out there.

EA says Hardline’s cops-vs-criminals FPS gameplay, combined with an “emotionally driven” single-player campaign inspired by TV crime dramas such as Justified, as well as its all-out multiplayer, combine to make the game “the most complete FPS on the market today.”

Jamie N Commons

The publisher made the claim today as part of an announcement of a partnership with musician Jamie N Commons, who–along with producer Alex Da Kid–created the song “Karma” for Hardline. The song serves as Hardline’s theme music, and Commons will perform the track tonight during The Game Awards in Las Vegas. It’s possible this is the “special announcement” EA COO Peter Moore teased.

“The music, and moreover the audio, help create that emotional experience you want gamers to feel as they play in the world we’ve built for them,” Hardline developer Visceral Games general manager Steve Papoutsis said. “With ‘Karma’, Jamie captured that gritty cop and criminals tone that defines Hardline, where not everyone is good and not everyone is bad, toeing that fine line of the law.”

Papoutsis knows a thing or two about music, as he was a founding member of punk band No Use for a Name before he left the group and joined EA. You can listen to “Karma” through the Spotify embed in this post, or you can download it on iTunes here.

For his part, Commons says he’s a longtime gamer and that he “could not pass up” the opportunity to work on a Battlefield game. “The deep melodic beats and lyrics help express the game’s theme where actions have consequences, but sometimes those consequences come back full circle. I think gamers are going to love it,” he said.

Rock band Imagine Dragons will also perform tonight during The Game Awards 2014, which kick off at 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern.

Hardline, which was originally expected to launch in October 2014, is now scheduled to debut on March 17, 2015. The game is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
