Evil Within’s First DLC Hits Next Year

The first of three expansion packs for Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within will be released in early 2015, publisher Bethesda has announced in a blog post.

It’s called “The Assignment,” and it focuses on The Evil Within protagonist Sebastian Castellanos’ partner, Juli Kidman. In fact, you get to play as Kidman (voiced by Dexter‘s Jennifer Carpenter) in the expansion.

Kidman plays differently than Castellanos, director John Johanas says.

“I would say she’s much livelier than Sebastian was in the main game,” he explained. “Her story is a bit more personal than his as well, so there’s a bit of banter and commentary as you play.”

The second episode in The Evil Within’s DLC season is called The Consequence, while the third and final add-on doesn’t have a name yet, but we know it will let you play as the bad guy.

You can buy all three expansions for The Evil Within for $20 through the game’s DLC pass. Bethesda has not yet announced pricing for individual releases. For more, check out GameSpot’s The Evil Within review.
