This past Tuesday (December 9) community manager Brandy Camel, lead technical artist Julian Love, and associate game designer John Yang took to Twitch to provide additional insight on the Legendary Workshop hosted at BlizzCon, discussing the team’s approach to designing Legendary items and answering questions submitted live by you, our community!
If you didn't get to tune in during the stream and are interested in learning more, be sure to check out the video embedded below or watch the VOD directly on Twitch or YouTube.
Following BlizzCon, we received a lot of great feedback from players asking for more information about the workshop. We loved this feedback and wanted to take the time to address your questions directly, plus a whole lot more!
During the stream, Julian and John covered a variety of topics requested by the community including our goals for the Legendary Workshop, what makes a great Legendary item, which ideas submitted by the community were viable (and why), and which weren't (and why not). In addition, Julian and John also took some time to do a quick Q&A, responding to questions submitted via Twitch chat.
Check out the timestamps below to hop directly to specific segments of the stream:
- 01:33 – Our goals for the Legendary Workshop
- 06:30 – Discussion of ideas submitted by players that we thought were viable, and why
- 12:30 – Discussion of ideas submitted by players that weren't viable, and why not
- 42:01 – John and Julian answer questions from Twitch chat
Thanks to all of you for your feedback on this project, and for putting your best creative efforts forth in crafting up new item ideas. We'd also like to thank those of you who tuned in live and sent in questions to chat. We hope you enjoyed the workshop!
