Watch the New PS4/PS3 Amplitude in Action

Following the delay it announced last month, Harmonix is now ready to show off its rebooted version of Amplitude, as well as a new multiplayer mode.

The minute-long gameplay trailer above provides a glimpse of what Amplitude looks like in action. It is–as expected–fundamentally very similar to the original Amplitude for PlayStation 2, but now looking much prettier.

In addition to releasing gameplay footage ahead of the game’s showing at PAX East later this month, Harmonix has also revealed a new wrinkle to the game’s multiplayer. In an attempt to find a way to help new or lesser players compete with experts, team multiplayer is being added to go alongside traditional free-for-all matches, art director Ryan Lesser explains on the PlayStation Blog. This will allow for up to 2v2 and 3v1 matches. You can get a look at this in the video, or you can try it out for yourself if you’re attending PAX East.

Amplitude, which was funded through Kickstarter last year, was originally slated to release this month on PS3 and PS4. Instead, following the delay announced in January, it’s now set to come to both platforms sometime this summer.
