The new Attack on Titan game coming to 3DS won’t go by that name in Europe, where copyright issues have forced Atlus to change the action game’s title.
Atlus has confirmed that its new game based on the popular manga series, Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains, will be out in North America on May 12 for $40. However, in Europe, a release date has not been nailed down yet. Moreover, whenever it is released in Europe, you won’t find it under that name–you’ll instead be looking for Shingeki no Kyojin: Humanity in Chains. Shingeki no Kyojin is the series’ name in Japan.
This change is due to “a copyright claim in Europe,” according to a post on Atlus USA’s Facebook page. The company says to “stay tuned” for a release date in the region.
Atlus had previously announced a May release date for both North America and Europe during a Nintendo Direct. The 3DS game features local and online co-op support for up to four players. As an added bonus, anyone who buys the game will receive a free 3DS theme (pictured below).
