Activision now has over 150 licensing partners

The publisher plans to support existing big franchises with acquired licenses; Skylanders, Call of Duty, and Destiny listed.

The Call of Duty and Skylanders series look set to receive increased merchandising, with Activision confirming that it has acquired over 150 licensing partners in the last year, doubling its portfolio.

Detailed in a press release, the publisher listed Skylanders, the Call of Duty series, and Destiny as its biggest entertainment franchises to receive support from licensing initiatives.

The press release outlined plans to support the Skylanders franchise via secured licensees in publishing, apparel, game accessories, costumes, bedding, and party goods. The latest video game entry to the series, titled Skylanders Swap Force, is due for release in October this year.

The Call of Duty series will also have supporting licensed goods, with Activision expanding its reach to apparel and mobile and electronic accessories.

Future licensing plans for Bungie’s upcoming game Destiny have also been outlined, with an accompanying merchandise program scheduled to launch in 2014. Activision has announced its intention to expand upon this “as the franchise establishes itself”.

Destiny launches next year on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Developer Bungie has been unable to confirm or deny the possibility of a PC version of the game.
