Rovio, Lucasfilm, and Activision jointly announced today that Angry Birds Star Wars will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as launch titles next month.
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, and 3DS versions are out today. The next-generation versions were revealed last week by the ESRB and GameFly.
“The success of Angry Birds Star Wars is a testament to the versatility of these iconic franchises,” Rovio Entertainment EVP of Games Jami Laes said in a statement.
The PS4 version of Angry Birds Stars will use the DualShock 4’s touchpad for “precision, touch-screen handling,” as well as the PlayStation Move controller. The game also supports the PS4’s “Share” functionality for capturing and sharing images and video.
Angry Birds Star Wars on Xbox One also supports video and image sharing, as well as motion and voice controls through the Kinect 2.0 included with every system. In addition, the Xbox One version of Angry Birds will make use of timed challenges through the console’s overhauled achievement system.
Angry Birds for PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U sells for $50, while the Xbox 360, PS3, PlayStation Vita, and Wii versions are priced at $40. The 3DS iteration goes for $30.
Angry Birds Star Wars originally launched for mobile devices in November 2012 and has been downloaded over 100 million times. A sequel with Skylanders-style toys was released in September.
