Who’s ready for another Apple announcement event? According to a report today from Recode, Apple will hold an event on October 16 where it will announce new iPads and Macs.
Based on anonymous sources, the site also reports that Apple will talk more about OS X Yosemite, the latest Apple operating system, during the presentation.
The event is said to be a “more laid-back affair,” and will reportedly be held at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. Apple declined to comment on this report.
If true, the event would come just a month after Apple unveiled the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch at a marquee event that even featured a performance by U2. Apple has a history of holding iPad events in October, as the company announced the iPad Air and iPad Mini devices last year at an event on October 22, 2013.
The first iPad was released in 2010 and prompted the release of a flood of similar devices from competing companies. Xbox maker Microsoft launched its own tablet line, called Surface, in 2012. The company has continued to push the device, even announcing a partnership with the NFL for coaches and players to use the tablet on the sidelines.
Recode’s report did not mention any details about the new iPad, like a name or technical specifications. For more on this news, be sure to read GameSpot sister site CNET’s extended coverage.
