Blizzard Confirms Overwatch PS4/Xbox One Editions, Release Date [Update]

Update: Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on its Battle.net homepage. The image also points to a release date “on or before June 21st, 2016.”

The original story follows below.

It looks like one of Blizzard’s BlizzCon surprises has been revealed early. Game Informer reports that retailer GameStop has “received word” that multiplayer shooter Overwatch, Blizzard’s first new franchise in 17 years, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Previously, the game was confirmed only for PC.

All versions of the game are priced at $60 and are slated to launch sometime in 2016, according to the report. It was previously speculated that Overwatch could be a free-to-play game.

A Blizzard representative told GameSpot, “We are excited to share more information about Overwatch with everyone at BlizzCon this weekend–so be sure to tune in to the opening ceremonies.”

If an official announcement is coming at BlizzCon, you won’t have to wait long. The annual event begins tomorrow, November 6, with an opening ceremony at 11 AM PDT. We’re also expecting to see the first trailer for the upcoming Warcraft movie during BlizzCon.
