Both EA Sports UFC 2 cover stars have lost their latest fights. Holly Holm surprised Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, while Nate Diaz choked out Conor McGregor last night at UFC 196. This is probably not what EA Sports’ marketing department would have wanted with the game’s release now just over a week away.
Rousey and McGregor remain two of UFC’s biggest stars and competitors. Their recent losses don’t change that and they are of course still deserving of the cover.
But naturally, discussion has cropped up regarding the “Madden Curse” extending now to the EA Sports UFC franchise.
McGregor earned himself a spot on EA Sports UFC 2’s cover by defeating Jose Aldo by KO at UFC 194 in December. Rousey had been on the game’s cover from the start, losing to Holm (who lost to Miesha Tate last night) just days after being announced as one of the cover stars.
Via Kotaku comes this image that sums up the current state of affairs for EA Sports UFC 2’s cover.
