Broken Xbox One? Microsoft will give you a free game

Stuck with a broken Xbox One? It’s not all bad, as Microsoft is offering a free game for your troubles.

As reported earlier, If you have a broken Xbox One, Microsoft will ship you a replacement console right away. A Microsoft representative further clarified that process in a message to GameSpot earlier today: “While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios

Those digital launch titles include: Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, or Zoo Tycoon. And since the games are downloadable, even consoles with broken disc drives can still play the titles.

After the Xbox One launched on Friday, some users began reporting issues with their systems; namely, the disc drives made grinding and clicking noises and would not play discs. Microsoft said the issues are limited to a “very small” number of users.

One Xbox One owner was able to fix his disc drive through brute force. This option may work, but is not advisable. Your best option is to contact Microsoft support and speak with a representative.
