With the upcoming Sunstrider Update, high-level players will be able to duke it out in the Crystal Rift battleground – you could win a Kirin Sigil!

This battlefield is a team fight, but the objectives are individual. Every character in the battleground is trying to reach 1,000 points, by killing other players and by killing crystals scattered through the map. This is a daily event, 19:00 – 21:00, and is open to LV135+ Ascended characters.

There are three tiers of crystals throughout the map, each worth different amounts of points. Note that you get points for killing the crystals, you don’t have to gather them — so they can't be interrupted by enemies, but they can be kill-stolen. Incense Mages’ burns are going to be very helpful, as are AoE skills.

You could play this as a PvE zone, but that’s boring: This is going to be a huge battle every day, with room for 75v75. This is the first battleground to feed your ego: If you start racking up a kill streak, you’ll be tagged with an icon over your head. Kill and death streaks will also change how many points you’re worth to your killer, starting at 5 and increasing/decreasing by one with every kill or death. The minimum is 0 points, max is 20. (Note: Kills are calculated by last hits, there are no assists.)

Don’t worry too much about spawn camping, either. When you first respawn, you’ll be invincible standing on the respawn point, and you’ll have a ten-second invincibility buff when you leave it. Skysongs trying to sleep-lock players as they spawn are in for a nasty surprise.

The battlefield will be open at least until 21:00, but it can also go later, if there are still enough people. As noted earlier, this is a team battle, but players win individually when they reach 1,000 points, getting teleported out of the instance shortly after doing so. Winners will get a bundle with a chance at a Kirin Sigil. Anyone who hasn’t reached 1,000 points when the instance closes gets a consolation bundle.
