Following a leak that suggested the original Dead Rising was on its way to PS4, Capcom has confirmed that and much more.
“Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4, and PC,” the publisher said in a statement shared with GameSpot. “In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4.”
Unfortunately, it didn’t offer any details beyond that, including whether these would be remastered versions. It said it would share more details “soon.”
Both Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record are already available on PC, whereas the original Dead Rising is not. With Capcom confirming a PC launch for only Dead Rising 1, it stands to reason these are ports, not remasters, but that’s merely speculation at this point.
All three are open-world games where you can use all manner of weapons (be it a baseball bat, bench, stuffed animal, or stuffed animal you’ve equipped with an assault rifle) to defend yourself from huge hordes of zombies. Off the Record is a remake of Dead Rising 2 that inserts Dead Rising 1 protagonist Frank West into the game and adds new content.
The prospect of Dead Rising coming to PS4 was evidenced when PS4 Trophies for the game were discovered online; this would mark its first appearance on a PlayStation platform. Meanwhile, the upcoming Dead Rising 4 is only headed to Xbox One and PC when it releases this December.
