Diablo III‘s patch 2.3.0 is now live, Blizzard announced today. Detailed on Battle.net, the update is now available to download for players logging into the Americas region. Players logging in from a European or Asian client will have to wait until the patch is released for those regions.
The update introduces a number of new features, most notably an item called Kanai’s Cube which bears a few similarities to Horadric’s Cube in Diablo 2. Kanai’s Cube can be used to extract powers from Legendary items which players can then equip. Extracting consumes the item in the process, but permanently adds the power to a collection. Depending on the type of item they originated from, powers will be assigned to either the weapon, armour, or jewellery category. Players can have up to one power from each of these categories equipped at a time, and are free to swap between them from the Cube at any time.
Kanai’s Cube also offers players the opportunity to reforge Legendary items, “completely randomizing every roll on the item as though it had dropped brand-new and removing any existing enchants.” Reforging can result in an Ancient, but reforging an Ancient is risky because it may not remain as one.
Patch 2.3.0 also adds torment levels up to ten, which can only be accessed by players who meet the following Paragon level requirements.
- Torment VII requires a Paragon level over 100
- Torment VIII requires a Paragon level over 150
- Torment IX requires a Paragon level over 200
- Torment X requires a Paragon level over 250
A new zone called The Ruins of Sescheron has opened up for exploration. Players can explore the frozen wasteland to find Kanai’s cube. Season four will kick off on August 28, with a new Season Journey feature that will allow players to track their individual progress through the Season. Patch 2.3.0 is exclusive to the PC version of the game, but Blizzard recently discussed the possibility of bringing Seasons to the console versions of the game.
