Dragon Age: Inquisition Is 1080p on PS4, 900p on Xbox One

Dragon Age: Inquisition, BioWare’s upcoming open-world role-playing game, will run in 1080p on PlayStation 4 and 900p on Xbox One, the developer confirmed today on Twitter. The studio added that 900p was the best it could do on Xbox One.

“We maximized the current potential of each platform,” BioWare said.

Inquisition becomes the latest high-profile multiplatform game that outputs in a higher native resolution on PS4 compared to Xbox One. Others have included Call of Duty: Ghosts, Pro Evolution Soccer 2015, and Lords of the Fallen, among others. Over the summer, Microsoft released a developer-focused Xbox One update that has helped studios reach 1080p with the Xbox One versions of their games.

Not interested in the debate over resolution? You’re not alone, as Assassin’s Creed Unity creative director Alex Amancio said earlier this week: “Is it the number of the quality of the pixels that you want? If the game looks gorgeous, who cares about the number?”

It’s been a big day for Inquisition news, as BioWare also said Friday that the RPG will offer 200 hours’ worth of content and revealed the game’s minimum and recommended PC system specifications.

Inquisition launches November 18 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. For more, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
