Each Wednesday is new comic day and determining which titles are worth checking out can be a daunting task, especially if you’re trying to keep your spending under a certain limit. We’ve gone through the list of new releases to help you decide which books you need to read on Wednesday, March 30.
Note: Because it’s the fifth Wednesday of the month, there are not as many books being shipped out this week.
Captain America Sam Wilson #7
Publisher: Marvel
Written by Nick Spencer
Art by Daniel Acuña
Captain America celebrates 75 years of patriotic, butt-kicking action this week. This issue commemorates the heroes who have worn the Captain America outfit, from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson. In addition, it’ll also tie into the current Marvel event, Standoff. Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuña have done a stellar job on this series thus far, so it’ll be cool to see what they have up their sleeves in this super-sized issue.
Daredevil #5
Publisher: Marvel
Written by Charles Soule
Art by Ron Garney
While the past couple of volumes have really elevated Daredevil as a character, writer Charles Soule is giving him his own flavor. Daredevil is up against Tenfingers, the new villain in town. Soule is crafting a new mythos for this character, and together with artist Ron Garney, they’ve put together an intriguing story.
Batman & Robin Eternal #26
Publisher: DC
Written by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV
Art by Tony S. Daniel, Sandu Florea
This weekly Batman series comes to an end on Wednesday, and the children of Gotham take on the villainous Mother, who has been controlling the minds of people around the world. What changes will this bring to Dick Grayson and company? If you’re a Batman fan, this is a big must read for the week, as it will set the tone for the future of the Dark Knight.
Godzilla Oblivion #1
Publisher: IDW
Written by Joshua Hale Fialkov
Art by Brian Churilla
Godzilla is back at IDW in a brand new story. Writer Joshua Fialkov takes readers to another dimension where the monsters rule the world. Considering that Godzilla in Hell, the last story from IDW, was such a smashing success, this will be a series to check out.
TMNT Deviations #1
Publisher: IDW
Written by Tom Waltz
Art by Zach Howard
IDW’s Deviations run of comics has been pretty cool. Last week, we saw a world where Cobra ruled the world, and G.I. Joe worked underground to stop them. This week, Deviations delivers the Ninja Turtles. What’s different is that instead of being led by Splinter, the Turtles follow their arch-nemesis, Shredder. Who knows what’s going to happen this week?
Saga #35
Publisher: Image
Written by Brian K. Vaughan
Art by Fiona Staples
Saga has been nothing but brilliant since it got its start three years ago. It’s an epic journey about a family, told through the eyes of a child. While solicitations don’t offer a lot of information about what’s coming up, a lot has been happening with the characters the story follows, and once again, they’ve been split up. If you haven’t read this yet, pick it up in trade as it’s one of the best on-going series in comics.
The Walking Dead Volume 25: No Turning Back
Publisher: Image
Written by Robert Kirkman
Art by Charlie Adlard
The Walking Dead can be a bit of a slow read, month-to-month. However, volume 25 will be hitting store shelves this week, and readers can find out how Negan tries to worm his way out of the Alexandria prison. Find out what’s next for Rick Grimes and company in the next arc of this series.
