Since it was delayed at the end of June, there’s been little word regarding Fallout 4 mod support on PS4. We now have a small update, though we still are in the dark as to exactly what the problem is or when it’s coming.
“We’re working with Sony on Fallout 4 mod support for PS4,” Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines wrote on Twitter. “The process is still under evaluation. As soon as we learn more, we will share news.”
This echoes what Hines said recently on Twitter in reply to questions about the status of PS4 mods. Asked for new info on July 23, he replied, “Sorry, but I’m not going to do that. Nor risk further delays than we’ve already had by saying something. When I have info, I’ll share.”
In another set of tweets from July 22, he said, “We continue to try and get an update so we can share something. We still haven’t gotten one.” When someone suggested keeping fans in the dark was a poor idea, he replied, “I don’t disagree. We have explained that to ‘others’ so we can get/share an update. So far it hasn’t worked.” Asked if those others are people at Sony, he concluded, “I’m not going to get into specifics. If I was able to have an open dialog and explain what’s up, I would have long ago.”

Official mod support for Fallout 4 was added to the PC version in April. Following a brief beta, the feature came to Xbox One in May, with the plan being to run a beta on PS4 and then introduce the feature for all users in June. However, serious issues with the PS4 version cropped up, and Bethesda ultimately had to delay the beta on that platform.
