Final Fantasy Agito PlayStation Vita Port Cancelled

Square Enix has announced the PlayStation Vita port of its mobile title, Final Fantasy Agito, has been cancelled.

The announcement was made on the company’s Japanese Twitter profile, which was translated by Game Informer. Although a word for word translation was not provided, the site reports the Tweet was an apology from the developer and confirmation development had been stopped.

GameSpot has contacted Square Enix for further clarification and a statement.

Final Fantasy Agito was released in Japan as an iOS and Android free-to-play title. It was later revealed it would make its way to Vita in territory and released on January 15, 2015 as Final Fantasy Agito Plus.

Final Fantasy Agito is set in the same universe as Final Fantasy Type-0, which was remastered for release in the West on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

In related news, Square Enix has released an extended version of the Final Fantasy XV Dawn trailer it first debuted at Gamescom this year. The video delivers more backstory for protagonists Noctis and Lunafreya.

Final Fantasy XV will be released simultaneously worldwide in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A specific launch date will be revealed in March next year.

In an interview with GameSpot, Final Fantasy XV game director Hajime Tabata talked about the localisation process, and the cost of making such an ambitious game.
