Video game retailer GameStop has announced that its Cyber Monday deals, which began yesterday, will run all week. The deals, which include discounts on consoles, games, and accessories, will be in effect until Sunday, December 7, both online and at the retailer’s 4,200+ stores across the United States.
GameStop vice president of multichannel strategy, Jason Allen, said in a statement that Cyber Monday has become such a huge draw for shoppers (outpacing Black Friday, he said) that the company wanted to extend the duration of the sale to accommodate more consumers.
Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia appeared to find the policy understandable. He said in a note to investors on Tuesday that GameStop’s decision to extend its Cyber Monday sale duration represents a “recognition of the changing consumer shopping patterns.”
Some of the best Cyber Monday deals this year at GameStop are continuations of what was offered on Black Friday. If you’re in the market for a current-generation console, GameStop is offering the Assassin’s Creed Unity Xbox One bundle (which also comes with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag) for $330. Meanwhile, you can get a PlayStation 4 with copies of Grand Theft Auto V and The Last of Us Remastered for $400.

GameStop has not announced any details regarding Black Friday performance for this year, but Bhatia says, based on checks with the company, that traffic was down year-over-year.
However, Bhatia also points out that Black Friday is just one day. When considering sales on Saturday and Sunday (November 29 and November 30), as well as the prior weekend, Bhatia said GameStop remains on track to hit its financial targets for the all-important holiday quarter.
