Warner Bros. has announced a reboot of 1985 multiplayer dungeon crawler Gauntlet.
The title is described as a “completely modernised” action RPG, and is the first title to be developed as part of the WB Games Vault, a scheme designed to create downloadable titles from Warner Bros. and Midway properties. The publisher says it’s also looking at creating its own IP.
The game will be released for Steam this summer, including support for SteamOS and the slew of incoming Steam Machines.
Gauntlet is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, the indie developer behind Magicka on PC and the upcoming Helldivers for PS4, PS3, and Vita. Players will take the Wizard, Warrior, Valkyrie, or Elf around randomized dungeons in either single-player, or local and online co-op play.
Arrowhead boss Johan Pilestedt said “Gauntlet is one of the most defining games from our childhoods, and it’s amazing to be able to work with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on a brand new version.”
A debut trailer was also released.
