Square Enix’s 2012 well-received open-world action game Sleeping Dogs is now available as a free download for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on Xbox 360 as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold program.
The game is free through January 15. From January 16-31, Microsoft will offer Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light as a free download for paying members.
Sleeping Dogs, developed United Front Games, was known as True Crime: Hong Kong when Activision was signed on to publish the game. Activision canceled the game in 2011, but Square Enix saw promise in it, purchasing the rights later that year and reviving the project as Sleeping Dogs in February 2012 before its release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in August 2012.
The game is described as an open-world “cop drama” set in Hong Kong. In the game, you play Wai Shen, an undercover police officer fighting through the seedy criminal underworld of the sprawling city. For more on Sleeping Dogs, check out GameSpot’s review.
