Public demo focusing on opening sequence for upcoming action game now available to download on PlayStation Network.

A single-player God of War: Ascension demo is now available to all PlayStation Network users, Sony has announced. The demo is set during the action game’s opening sequence and lets players try out Kratos’ new combat skills.

In addition, Sony has released the God of War: Ascension launch trailer. Embedded below, the trailer explains some of the backstory for the game and shows off enemies that players can expect to take on during the campaign.

God of War: Ascension is a prequel to the original trilogy that will tell Kratos’ origin story. It is due out March 12, 2013, exclusively for the PlayStation 3, and includes a series-first multiplayer mode. For more on God of War: Ascension, check out GameSpot’s previous coverage.
